The bamboo by the sides are the pillar of support, a vital building material and food source in the East, the strong yet pliant bamboo has long been a fundamental part of Zen and Buddhist philosophy. It represents fertility, courage, and modesty. In Chinese culture, its upright yet flexible habit symbolises the path towards enlightenment.
